Lonely? Do more than hug your pillow at night!

We’ve all been there. Alone, in bed, with no one to hold…or kiss. Well now loneliness (and passionate snogs) are no longer an issue. No need to secure a date for the night, just add the ‘Make-Out Practice Pillow‘ for a match made in heaven!

Of course, there will be some people who will want to practice their kissing technique. Well this is the way to do it!

That’s how the idea came about, a solution by Florida-based designer Emily King for the inexperienced kisser.

When I was in middle school, everyone joked about making out with pillows for practice. I’m assuming that I was not the only one for whom the jokes had some truth

Taking inspiration from CPR practice dummies, Emily went about collecting a few ‘mouth pieces’ to create this kissing comforter.

The mouths sat in a bin in my studio for a while

The 26 year-old designer recalls…

They whispered to me as I worked in my studio. ‘We are waiting,’ they said, ‘and we are creepy. Don’t you want to get us out of your studio?’ After many months the rubber lips exhaled the idea of make-out pillows. I’ve been avoiding the insistency of the mouths, but as we near closer to Valentine’s Day I know the time has come

…she wrote on DIY community website, Instructables. Well there’s certainately no better time!

And with that, the $31 pillows were born.

Seeing a gap in the ‘pillow market’, the reflected

there seems to have been little innovation in the make-out practice pillow department despite the rise in popularity of decorative ‘Let’s Make Out’ pillows and cuddle pillows, so it is time to step in and offer a new solution to the middle-schoolers or lonely hearts of the world: a pillow with a mouth

While Emily was fully behind this ground-breaking idea and product, her friends were less enthusiastic

I have to admit that when I mentioned this idea to my friends, the reaction from anyone over the age of 25 tended to be variations on “that’s really creepy,” and anyone under the age of 25 thought it was hilarious and awesome: middle-school to college-age seemed to be the sweet spot of people who really liked the idea.

No matter though, the cutting review from the over 25’s didn’t sway her

They are super creepy. But I sort of love them for that

We couldn’t agree more. We imagine them to be within the pages of House Beautiful very soon as this season’s must-have cushion for the adolescent bedroom.
