Jump on the ‘get-fit’ bandwagon to get your sexy on!

January is typically the month that everyone starts focusing on getting fit and going back to the gym. Articles abound about getting into shape and shops start selling more fitness equipment.


Getting into shape physically is great for our sex lives. Extra cardio fitness increases blood and oxygen flow all around the body. This in turn gives you more energy, helps you to think more clearly and can even increase physical sensations of arousal and pleasure.

As we get fit, our hearts, lungs, muscles, etc work better and more efficiently which leads to the whole rest of our bodies working better. A study by Harvard School of Public Health found that men who exercised vigorously for 20 – 30 mins a day were 30% less likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction than men who did no exercise at all.

Besides these physical improvements, regular exercise can make you more aware of your body. Good body awareness is essential for a good sex life. It’s not uncommon for people to spend much of their time in their heads, not in their bodies. This makes it more difficult to relax and be present when it comes to getting your sexy on. Getting healthy and doing some exercise will really help you to be more ‘in’ your body and aware of what’s going on with it.

Getting fit and healthy also helps you to feel more in charge of your life, more… alive! And these feelings will overflow into other areas of your life, particularly your sex life. Regular exercise will increase your stamina, your energy, even your creativity!
