Yawning ‘signals sexual desire’

You’ve probably always thought that yawning is a sign of tiredness, but scientists say it actually demonstrates a range of emotions, including sexual desire.

Academics attending the first ever International Conference on Yawning in Paris believe certain types of yawns can send out subconscious erotic messages.

The act can also signal stress, they claimed, dismissing the long-held theory that yawning is the body’s way of providing the brain with extra oxygen.

“We can send a man to the moon but we cannot explain this most trivial of acts,” said Wolter Seuntjens, a Dutch scientist specialising in chasmology.

He first developed the theory that yawning and sexual desire are somehow linked after noting that sexologists are often consulted by people who yawn during foreplay or intercourse.

So next time your on a date and your partner can’t stop yawning, it could be that they’re incredibly attracted to you rather than incredibly bored.
