It’s not what you’d usually expect to see when you sit down to watch This Morning with a cuppa.
But some viewers tuning in this week were left spluttering over their coffee when they were treated to a demonstration of sexual positions.
It came as part of the daytime television programme’s Sex Week, which is examining ways in which couples can put the passion back in their relationships.
A pair of actors in their 20s – fully clothed of course – showed viewers which positions work best when there is a pronounced height difference.
Then an older couple demonstrated the most effective low-energy positions, which can be relied on when one partner is too tired for sex.
But while some viewers found it entertaining, others were not amused.
Numerous disgruntled TV watchers complained about the feature, insisting it should not have been broadcast before the evening watershed.
On his Twitter blog, This Morning’s co-presenter Philip Schofield said the point of Sex Week was to break taboos in an honest and responsible way.
And on Wednesday, he tweeted: “Sex toys next! You have been warned. Or alternatively switch on now so you have the chance to be outraged.”
