Sex addiction ‘a cop out’ according to Hefner

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has argued that sex addiction is a cop out excuse used by celebrities caught cheating.

The 84-year-old, who is famed for his polygamous relationships, said it’s a "convenient phrase for what is really an obsession".

Tiger Woods went to rehab after news of his affairs emerged, claiming he needed help for sex addiction.

But was he really addicted to nookie, or was his admission just a way to make wife Elin feel sorry for him?

Hefner believes it was the latter. He told "Most people who cheat do it because they think they can get away with it.

"Sex is not like a drug or alcohol. It doesn’t affect the physicality in the same way. But it can become very obsessive."

He added: "Neurotic people can do very foolish things."

Hugh celebrated his 84th birthday in Las Vegas this weekend, accompanied by girlfriend Crystal Harris and his Playboy Playmates.
