Celebrity women are often seen having fun with younger men, but it’s not just the rich and famous who are dating toy boys.
According to a recent survey by online dating service Parship, a third of UK women in their 40s and 50s would date a man five or more years younger.
In 2005, when asked the same question, just eight per cent of middle-aged women said they would get together with a younger man.
Of course men have been dating younger women for years, but the survey suggests that it’s now socially acceptable for the age gap to be reversed.
Dr Victoria Lukats, dating expert at Parship, said media reporting of celebrity relationships involving an older woman and a younger man could be responsible.
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are perhaps one of the most famous age gap celebrity couples. At 46, Demi is 15 years her actor husband’s senior.
Madonna, 51, has also swapped her younger husband Guy Ritchie, who she divorced earlier this year, for an even younger partner – 22-year-old model Jesus Luz.
