Gay weddings ‘usually private’

Ceremonies held to mark same-sex partnerships are usually kept small and intimate, it has been claimed.

Gino Meriano, a gay rights campaigner and founder of the Gay Wedding Show, said that having a private function helps ease any concerns the couple may have.

He added that the number of civil partnerships taking place in the UK each month is holding steady, with annual figures hovering in the range of 11,000 to 13,000.
