People from Devon are most likely to cheat on their partners, according to a new survey by extra-marital dating website IllicitEncounters.com.
It revealed that 47 per cent of married people in the county have been unfaithful with 44 per cent currently playing away from home.
By contrast, only two per cent of people in Surrey have committed adultery and just one per cent are currently having an affair.
Devon’s statistics are particularly high considering that on average, seven per cent of people in the UK have had an extra-marital relationship and three per cent are involved in one at the moment.
Sara Hartley, a representative for IllicitEncounters.com, said: "In our opinion, Devon have just been much more honest in their answers.
"It has previously been estimated that around 40 per cent of women and 60 per cent of men will cheat during marriage, so these figures seem incredibly low."
According to research carried out by online dating website Smooch.com, men are a third more likely to be unfaithful than women.
