The organisers of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Vancouver will be working hard to spread the safe sex message during the games, with the help of a superhero known as Captain Condom.
Around 500,000 people are expected to attend the event, and with spirits high and temperatures low, many will be keeping warm by getting jiggy with fellow spectators.
Outreach workers will be stationing themselves in key pedestrian areas and outside clubs, bars and hotels, distributing SafeKits containing a range of safety essentials, including condoms and lubricant.
Captain Condom will be fronting the campaign, making sure that both athletes and sports fans are aware of the dangers of unprotected sex.
According to the Canadian Press, a local sex shop is also planning to get in on the action by launching a number of special offers during the games.
“Both sex and sporting activities are excellent cardiovascular activities and statistically I’ve read that sex is more often engaged in during the winter months,” said shop spokesperson Janna Sylvest.
