Britain ‘a nation of Charlottes and Mirandas’

We’ve all taken the ‘which Sex and the City character are you’ quizzes in glossy magazines. Which one were you?

If you’re a British woman, chances are you were a Charlotte or a Miranda, as a new survey has shown that there are very few Samanthas in the UK.

The research, by Bayer Schering Pharma, revealed that 34 per cent of British ladies identify with Charlotte and are too embarrassed to experiment in the bedroom.

Indeed, almost a third of women said they never initiate sex with their partner.

A further 32 per cent relate to Miranda and are simply too busy or too exhausted for regular sex.

Some 83 per cent said tiredness is damaging their sex life, while 34 per cent said children are preventing them from having fun between the sheets.

Sex and relationship therapist Simone Bienne said: "It’s concerning and sadly not surprising that women aren’t getting the most out of their sex lives. We need to help ourselves more to get what we deserve in the bedroom."

The findings mirror those of a separate survey by Bayer, which revealed that more than half of UK couples prefer cuddles and kisses to sex.

Perhaps we should all take a leaf out of Samantha’s book!
