What’s the ideal penis size?

Is big beautiful? Or is it better to be small and perfectly formed?

I don’t really like talking about penis size – it’s a minefield. If you’re too small, no amount of consolation will persuade you that it’s fine (although it is – really it is). If you’re larger, no amount of chat can persuade you that this is as insignificant as that small mole you have on your shoulder.

For years people have been obsessed with penis size, and so to become un-obsessed is no mean feat. You have to actively undo all the ways in which society’s trained you to think. It’s like trying to forget a popular advertising jingle – the harder you try the more solidly it gets stuck in your head.

Ideal penis size

A recent survey carried out by a medical website looked into an interesting question: what was the perceived ‘ideal’ penis size?

You’ll probably not be surprised to hear that the ideal was around 16cm – a little over 6 inches for those of you working on the metric system.

But who cares more about size – those who have dicks, or those who don’t?

“When considering notions of an ideal length, it becomes clear that expectations don’t always match up with reality. Women’s perception of an ideal penis length was 2 cm greater than the average length. While it’s concerning that even an average penis size is seen as less than ideal, it’s unclear whether a difference of only 2 cm would have a meaningful effect on sexual satisfaction for a man or his partner. Yet men may be evaluating themselves even more harshly: Despite having an estimate of average size that’s similar to women’s, they believe the ideal penis is 2.5 cm longer.”

So there you have it – men are generally a bit harsher about their penis size than women are, perhaps following that rule of self-critique that the grass is always greener. As I mentioned above, whenever I write about penis size, I’m always worried that I am not good enough to offer reassurance or sensible advice, because I am more of an ‘all penises are awesome’ kind of girl. But if you’re worried about the size of your penis, or even if you just want to experiment with a super-fun suction-inducing sex toy, then you’re in luck – spend £50 on the site at the moment and you’ll get a penis pump absolutely free.
