It’s never too late for great sex!

I don’t know about you, but I plan to be actively sexual until the day I kick the bucket. And since I’m planning to live till at least 100, that gives me plenty of time to explore and learn new things. Yay!

I often get emails from people who tell me that they are no longer sexually active because they’re older now – usually they mean somewhere in their 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or older. They tell me that something wasn’t quite working for them in their 30’s or 40’s so they just gave up or quit trying and now that they’re older, they feel it’s too late.

What? Noooo, it’s never, ever too late to have a great sex life. Ever!

Sure, our bodies change as we age and so must our ideas of who we are as sexual beings, how we express ourselves sexually, what we like and don’t like. So much about us changes as we age, why wouldn’t our sexual preferences too? If we can learn to embrace it and work with it, then there is absolutely no reason to not carry on being sexual for as long as you like.

Sex is one of the healthiest things we can do for ourselves. It’s great exercise, gets the heart pumping, healthy chemicals are released that boost the immune system, the brain and even help our skin and hair to shine! Sex can create loving bonds, boost our confidence and put a spring in our step.

So if you want to carry on being sexual, there is always a way. Even if something isn’t quite working for you – whether that’s physical, mental, emotional or even spiritually, there is always a way to express your sexuality, to enjoy it and bask in it’s healthy glow. You just have to be willing to expand your ideas of who you are as a sexual being, let go of your ‘20-year-old sexual self’ and embrace the present moment.

So, if you feel like you’ve missed the boat or are too old, please, think again.  What we think about things, our perspective on things, is a big part of creating our reality. If you can allow the possibility that sex at 50 or 60 or 70 might be different than it was in your teens, 20’s or 30’s but that it can still be fantastic, you’re well on the road to getting your mojo back and keeping it!
