After the excesses of the holidays, it’s the time of year when we turn our thoughts to getting healthy. It’s important to be aware of what we’re eating and to get some exercise. What’s really exciting is that positive, loving sex can help us get in shape and the better shape we’re in, the sexier we feel. When we’re in good physical health our mood improves, our confidence soars and our sex drive is increased.


Here are a few ‘how’s and why’s’ you should add plenty of sexercise to your regular fitness routine:

Just 10-20 minutes of active sex provides a great cardio workout. This gets your heart rate pumping which in turn improves circulation, gets oxygen and nutrients to all of your muscles, tissues and organs and helps to clear toxins out of the system. It can also help to build muscles, which helps you to burn off fat.

If you do a regular workout at home or at a gym, you will be working on different areas of the body each day. For example, you might do a leg workout one day and do upper body exercises the next. Sexercise is no different. Remember to change your sexual routine from time to time. If you are usually on your back, try being on top for a while. If you always have sex lying down, try it standing up. You will use different muscles, and have lots of sexy fun trying new positions!

In a regular workout you would warm up before the more vigorous exercise and you would take time to warm down too. The same is true of sex as exercise.
