If you’re a lover of erotica, bondage and art, artist Dix Steele has a treat in store for you!
This week, we explore the works of Dix Steele (aka Richard Luka) Minnesota born erotic artist and graduate of the University of Minnesota in 1976 with a BA in Fine Arts Studio.
His works are a combination of Pop Art, illustration, fine and graphic art. He tries to “create what I consider design iconographic imagery“, using bold colours and graphic subject matter to convey emotion and arousal….and that he does! We’re BIG fans of these raw, graphic and filthy pieces.
In the late 70’s he worked as a production artist for a national retailer, where he chanced upon a meeting with the office manager of design in the display department which led to him specialising in screen printing, graphic design and advertising.
From 1975 to 1993 he worked in a nightclub where he designed the club logo, corporate graphics, and posters for events at the club. Also during this time, while competing as a bodybuilder, he started designing posters and promotional material for the Minnesota State Bodybuilding Competitions, which explains much of his fascination and attention to detail of the artistic anatomy.
During the late ’90s, he became a Go Go Dancer, after becoming a guest artist at Ground Zero’s “Bondage A Go Go“, a BDSM themed nightclub in Minneapolis, his interest in the Erotic Art really began to take off. Since then he has continued to produce raunchy art with popularity steadily growing for his work.
