Doc Johnson 10x Power Bullet

The 10x Power Bullet is made from ABS plastic (body-safe) with a pleasant, silky finish. It consists of a bulbous bullet connected to a two-button controller by 24" of plastic-coated wire. Batteries are not included.

The bullet is about 2" long with a maximum diameter of an inch, while the controller is about 3" long and rests ergonomically in the hand. It has two buttons, "10" to change modes and 'ON/OFF' to turn it on and off, which is useful as you wouldn't want to switch through all the modes to turn it off in a hurry. It also has a little red LED on the controller that reflects the pulse of the vibrator.

The blurb on the box markets the 10x Power Bullet (already implying strong vibrations with its name) as 'œjust what you need for blast off', 'mind-blowing' and as having '10x the power'. Meanwhile, the product description claims it is 'breathtakingly powerful'. So, this vibe is being marketed based on it being a powerful bullet with strong vibrations, right?

Well, unfortunately, that's a problem. I found the 10x Power Bullet weak as all hell and supremely disappointing. The first speed is fairly respectable for the lowest speed of a bullet, but the second and third speeds don't add significantly to that level at all. All that happens when you progress to the medium and 'high' speeds is it gets louder and buzzier (I say louder, but should note that it's actually a pretty damned discreet, which is a plus point), not stronger or better.

Sure, it makes me climax (when used on my clit: internally it does sweet FA), just about, but I have to go through ALL the different modes and trudge my way to orgasm. Admittedly, that makes it a good for variety, but it takes forever and is not fun. There's just not enough power. If you like a slow tease or toys with weaker vibrations, you might love it, though.

The shape doesn't help. It does nothing for me and it can't decide whether to be a rounded head or a focused point. The point of the bulbous bullet is not pointy enough to allow for focused vibrations, but not broad enough for an all-over buzz, leaving me using it on its side to get what I want.

What is great is the variety and quality of the 10x Power Bullet's ten different functions:

1 - Low buzz
2 - Medium buzz
3 - High buzz
4 - Continuous rising scales
5 - Quick pulse
6 - Super quick pulse
7 - Rising scale followed by four pulses
8 - Quick pulse, super quick pulse then two long buzzes
9 - Rising scale followed by long continuous buzz
10 - Scale from ultra-short pulses through longer pulses until a long buzz

The seven patterns are varied and much more sensible and arousing than on the other patterned vibration toys I've tried. A good mixture of tease and please that has been well thought-out to provide satisfaction. It's just a shame they don't have the power to back it up.

The other big selling point of the 10x Power Bullet is that it is waterproof and can thereby be used in the shower or bath. I tested this and it certainly did work underwater and didn't appear to suffer any problems. The controller floats, which is pretty handy just in case you drop it in the bath. However, when I opened the battery compartment after drying off the outside, I noticed half a dozen small droplets on the inside, which could potentially cause the toy to short and is not good.

CONCLUSION

The Doc Johnson 10x Power Bullet is disappointingly pathetic for a toy with a main selling point of power. Far too weak but I did enjoy its arousing range of patterns. The waterproofing is a plus point, but I was concerned by the droplets entering the battery compartment.

It is body-safe and easy to clean but ultimately nothing special. It lacks anything to make it stand out and fails on the power it claims to provide. If you enjoy weaker vibrations you may enjoy this bullet, but otherwise I would not recommend this product.

I was chosen to review this by the lovely team at Sextoys.co.uk and after a lengthy term of testing, I'm finally able to write this review!

When this toy arrived I was a little wary of it since the last time I had tried a Doc Johnson toy, it had caused a weird burning sensation wherever it was put that made me ill and said toy ended up going in the bin. As I took this toy out of the packet, it felt similar but I gathered my courage and decided to try it anyway. For around ten minutes, I simply investigated the toy. The texture is somewhat weird; the page describes it as velvet but I think it is more like a cross-breed of velvet and silk. The shape of the bullet itself is weird also, and my first thought was that it would be easy to pull out when it's finished with. I own a similar toy with a different shape that is wireless and when used, it has been difficult to pull out at the end - thankfully not a problem with this one! Instead, the problem seems to be the reverse... The remote has finger-grooves in it for easier holding and is very thin with small buttons. My only complaint for the design is that the wire itself is too short. The packaging I would describe as minimalist and simple.

Now, this toy requires AAA batteries... most of mine require AA so my only option was to snaffle some from an old remote. This was somewhat of a mistake. The old batteries were working, but made the toy sound almost deafeningly loud which was quite off-putting! Nevertheless, I tried it anyway but due to the shape of the toy and the irritating sound it was making, I struggled my way to a clitoral orgasm.

The next day, I ended up getting some new AAA batteries to see what the difference was. The sound was a lot quieter now and the vibrations were stronger! Unfortunately, I am not sensitive inside my vagina so instead of that option I used this toy anally. This is where the short cable began to bother me, since it was difficult to have it inside me and use the remote without it simply coming out if I moved my hand too far. However, this time I played with all the modes on the toy to see what it was really like. The ten modes of vibration all worked fine and seemed to be the same as my other toy so they weren't anything special, but what I did like is that the toy has a red light on it that reflects what the vibrations are doing. After a while of this, I also ended up using one of my normal vibrators (my beloved Lady Finger) on my clitoris as well and came to quite a satisfying orgasm.

I've used it quite a few times since then but it hasn't been enough to get me off without other help. I think I shall only be using it for a warm-up from now on. It's a very good product despite that, and if you're sensitive and use bullets regularly I would definitely recommend getting this, if only for its shape alone!
