LELO Tiani

I've been a fan of LELO and their fantastic pleasure objects for a while now, so I was really keen to try the Tiani which is part of the new Insignia line and features SenseMotion remote control.

As usual with Lelo the packaging is gorgeous - its sleek and black and very classy looking. You get a handy satin pouch for storage and a cute metal pin in the shape of the Insignia logo plus the Tiani itself, the charger and the remote, plus the key to open the remote. You also get a sample of lube and even batteries for the remote. Nothing is missed out. One thing that's definitely worth a mention is the guarantee - you not only get a one year warranty, there's also a 10 year LELO quality guarantee! How's that for having faith in their products?

The Tiani itself is a wearable U-shape of satin soft silicone. There's a smaller arm that's inserted and a larger firmer side that nestles against the clit which houses the vibrator unit. The vibrating end unscrews for charging. Two hours of charging should give you about an hour of playtime. The unscrewing is also useful for cleaning, Lelo recommend either using their own toy cleaner, or simple warm water and antibacterial soap. You do have to be a bit careful as once unscrewed the unit is not completely waterproof so no submerging it, but it's not difficult to clean with a damp cloth. It's always a good idea to give these things a good wash before first use so I did that before setting it to charge for the first time.

It's always such a long wait for that first charge to finish - I think the more eager I am to try thing the longer they seem to take. This seemed to take forever! Eventually we were there and the Tiani was ready for use. The next step was to insert the batteries into the remote controller. I found this a bit fiddly to be honest, the key for unlocking the remote was hard to grip and difficult to operate. Having said that, I do have problems with my hands so other users might not find it a problem.

Once you get the batteries in place you need to synchronise the Tiani and the remote, then you want to sync the two. First you need to turn on the remote by holding down the + button until it starts to vibrate, then you press the communication button on the top of the Tiani's. The flashing light tells you when the two are in synch and you can feel the Tiani vibrate as well.

Now you get to experience the new SenseMotion control. It's pretty awesome - in the first mode the more you tilt the remote the faster the vibrations. In the second you rotate or shake the remote and the vibrations match your movements. The remote vibrates as well as the Tiani so you know exactly what signals it's sending. If you don't want to use SenseMotion there are also five preset all of which can be geared up and down using the + and - buttons. It's definitely got a lot to offer. The vibrations are pretty intense for a toy of it's size although I found they felt nicer on the lower settings which weren't as powerful.

As the Tiani is silicone, Lelo recommends using a water-based lubricant with it, but to be honest I didn't need any, the silicon is so smooth it slides across the skin easily and inserts with ease. It's comfortable to wear, it feels nicely secure once it's in place so I can wear it under clothing with out worrying. The pleasure point really nestles into my clit well, it connects in all the right places but isn't bulky. The insertable arm is so slender it's barely noticeable which makes it great for teaming with penetration, all you feel is the vibrations spreading out through the silicone.

I wasn't so keen on the Tiani for solo play - having the remote vibrating in my hand felt weird, and I kept dropping it when I got over excited which meant the vibrations stopped. Again, other people may not have this problem cos they don't have the dodgy hand that I have. I did enjoy being able to use the remote as a second vibrator, it feels lovely stroked across my nipples and around my neck, although again that worked even better with a partner holding on to it. The one real treasure was discovering how good it felt holding the remote against his cock while I was sucking him, those synchronised vibrations are definitely worth repeating.

With a partner in control the Tiani was incredible. It does exactly what I would expect from a Lelo creation and it does it with style.

The only negative is that the signal between the remote and the Tiani was a bit unstable at times. Although I don't think my partner found me begging for more when it cut out too much of a hardship. When they cut out you just have to bring the two units close together and they reconnect fairly quickly but it's a frustrating few seconds and it happened quite a few times. It's supposed to work with over 30 feet between the two units but I don't think that would be very successful given the need to re-synch every so often. It's a shame that you can't override the signal and use the Tiani without the remote if you want to as that would make it absolutely perfect.

Control of the unit is wonderful fun. Precise control of speed, intensity and frequency is ridiculously simple. There is even a setting where sneaky little shockwaves can be sent as little erotic reminders that she belongs to you.

To be honest, the review of how the unit performs during intercourse will have to wait for the next installment but, if there was ever a product that deserved a two stage write-up it is the Tiani.
